On backYARD surf skate courses you will learn surf techniques and movements through a skateboard so that you can better understand the mechanics of surfing and be able to practice out of the water.
We will approach the fundamental movements of surfing through flat and inclined planes. From weight distribution to body rotations, skateboarding allows us to explain in an easier and more controlled way the mechanics and techniques to control a surfboard and ride a wave.
Through practical and private surf skate sessions suitable for your surf level, we will teach you how to surf and give you the opportunity to experience and practice the surf movements in a controlled environment.

Now that you are comfortable with the surf skate it’s time to ride it like a surfboard.
The coach will teach you the fundamental surf movements that allow you to turn and generate speed on a surfboard.

SURF ON THE INCLINE
A NEW ELEMENT TO MAKE IT MORE SURF RELATED
After you learn how to surf on a skateboard and if you feel comfortable and in control it’s time to take the next step and go on a ramp or bowl.
At this stage the focus will be using the ramp or bowl to have the feeling of a wave and make it more surf related

All our surf coaches are certified by the Portuguese Surf Federation with years of experience.
Teaching other people to surf is their profession and a passion.
They are local surfers who know Ericeira like no one else.
We want to help people to get better at surfing to contribute to a more sustainable and quality surf in Ericeira.

The contents of the surf skate lessons will be adapted to your surfing and skateboarding experience.
All surf skate sessions are private so that we customize each session according to your needs and goals.

Ericeira
The surf skate lessons take place in Ericeira. The spot for the sessions are chosen according to the session’s objectives and your experience. .
Transport is included within the Ericeira area.
If you want, there is the possibility to carry out sessions outside Ericeira area to search for better conditions or to have access to another type of infrastructure. However, in that case, travel cost will be added to the program price according to time and distance to the spot.
The duration of the course and the number of skate lessons can be adjusted to your goals and availability.
The longer the course, the deeper we can go into each content, as well as the possibility of using different methodologies to pass on knowledge.
Skate lessons last 2 hours from the initial briefing to the final feedback.
The practical part being approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
For surf skate lessons with just need comfortable clothes and preferably sports shoes.
The surf skateboard board is provided by us.
Yes, although the courses are private, you can create a private group with 1 or more friends.
The courses have a maximum of 4 surfers.
In the event that there are more than 4 surfers, an additional class will have to be created with another responsible coach.
The price of the course will be charged to each surfer in the group but for each additional element a discount is given.
GROUP DISCOUNTS:
2 people per group – 15% discount
3 people per group – 25% discount
4 people per group – 35% discount
